The Deborah Ebisindei Filatei Women and Children Developmental Foundation, led by President Dr. (Mrs ) Joan Filatei, visited Daisy’s Orphanage motherless baby home to empower children and promote their welfare.
Dr. Filatei, who is also the President Deborah Ebisinde Filatei Women and Chilldren developmental Foundation and also the 2nd National Vice President of Women Against Gender Based Violence, said she was motivated to visit the home in memory of her late daughter, Deborah.
Dr. Filatei stated that her foundation has been empowering women and children for 21 years, with a particular focus on education and personal development.
She highlighted the success of her “Adopt A Patient Scheme,” which has provided support to numerous women and children.
Dr. Filatei cited financial constraints and accessibility issues as major challenges facing her foundation, despite these challenges, she expressed gratitude for the support of her team and the impact of their work.
The foundation recently empowered two university students taking care of their welfare and continues to provide support to those in need.
Representing the National President of the Association of Women Against Gender Based Violence, Barr. Dise Ogbise- Harry, Mis. Mary Igbori Stephanie said she is visiting the Daisy orphanage motherless baby home for the first time and expressed her joy and appreciation for the foundation’s work.
Igbori encouraged the children to be of good character, pray for their guardians, and behave well, emphasizing that their actions would have consequences.
The foundation’s visit to the Daisy motherless baby home demonstrates its commitment to supporting vulnerable children and promoting their well-being. The organization’s work is driven by a passion to make a positive impact on the lives of women and children.
Mrs. Dr. Biobelaiaye Igoniwari, speaking on the topic “Enhancing the total wellbeing of children through quality education and skills development ” highlighted the potential of children to excel when provided with the right environment and support.
Mrs. Igoniwari emphasized that children possess inherent qualities that can be developed to unlock their full potential, and encouraged the children to cultivate a positive attitude, believing that they have the capacity to succeed.
She urged them to look inward and tap into their inner resources, thereby unlocking their hidden potential and reaching their full potential.
Speaking during the visit, the President and founder of Daisy’s Orphanage Motherless Baby Home, Mrs. Joy Kopu Oze expressed gratitude to the Deborah Ebisindei Filatei Women and Children Developmental Foundation for their visit on Children’s Day. saying that the visit was a significant morale boost for both her and the children.
Kopu praised the foundation for infusing power, strength, and encouragement into her and the children, stating that their visit had elevated her.
According to her, the motherless baby home faces numerous challenges, particularly health-related issues affecting the children and highlighted the need for support in addressing these health challenges.
She revealed that the home receives limited support from the government, relying heavily on individual donors, particularly from the Ibo community in Bayelsa State, who have been instrumental in providing assistance, including fundraising for major surgeries.
