To this end, the committee has said the new salary structure which takes immediate effect seeks to improve the welfare of party officials.

In a communique signed by the spokesman of the Caretaker Committee, Derri Alasuote Wright, the party noted that the new monthly salaries for elected Local Government Areas (LGAs) Party Chairmen will now be N621,000, LGA Vice Chairmen and Secretaries, N336,000, Ward Chairmen, N336,000, and Ward Vice Chairmen and Secretaries, N196,000.

The CTC also approved monthly stipends of N621,000 for elected party officials at the senatorial district level and N1,048,500 for members of the State Working Committee, saying these officials were equivalent to Cabinet Commissioners in the state government.

“The cumulative monthly wage bill for PDP elected officials in the state is expected to be N306,496,000”, the Party said.

“This increase will enhance the capacity and performance of party officials and improve their wellbeing”.

The image maker of the Party averred that the Caretaker Committee also commended and passed a vote of confidence in the Chief Dan Orbih-led South-South zonal Executive Council and the National Secretary of the Party, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, saying their efforts have lead to the repositioning and refocusing of the party.

The Communique read in parts: “The party in Bayelsa State fully identifies with the Chief Dan Orbih-led South-South zonal Executive Council of the Party and the National Secretary of our great Party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

“We commend these two key leaders for their commitment and efforts in repositioning and refocusing the Party”.

The Publicity Secretary of the Caretaker of the Party stated that upon the approval of the new salary structure, the CTC has directed its Secretary to communicate the State Governor, Senator Douye Diri cor his attention and necessary action.
