The Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon Chinedu Ogah, has condemned the killing of seven indigenes of Akuhufu Inyimegu in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Ogah who is representing Ezza South and Ikwo constituency and chairman house of representative on reformatory institutes, further called on affected Community not to retaliate, stressing that investigation has commence to fish out the actors.

He made this known on Saturday when he visited the people of Ekpaomaka Community in same Ikwo local government area of the state.

“I’m here today to commiserate with your community (Ekpaomaka) over the recent killings, I condemn it totally. It is uncalled for because I did not see reasons why your sister community will wake up and kill his fellow neighbour.

“But I want to beg you people to remain calm, Ekpaomaka and Akuhufu Inyimegu are brothers, we are both Ikwo by identify.

“So pls be calm, I promise you that the state government must fish out the perpetrator of this crime”,he said.

The lawmaker also announced a 10 million Naira donation for the construction of a secondary school in the area and pledged to award a scholarship to one of the deceased’s family.

Salient Times learnt that the seven deceased persons were natives of Ekpaomaka. Although, it was alleged that they were given mass burial by the unknown actors.

However, some families of the deceased were a female second year student of Ebonyi state University, (EBSU) Abakiliki including a twin among others.

The Chairman of Akuhufu Inyimegu, Mr. James Ogadah, claimed that the seven individuals were killed while going about their daily activities and appealed to the state government to intervene and ensure justice.

Also, the Commissioner for Border Peace and Conflict Resolution, Dr. Donatus Ilang, commended the community for their restraint and assured that the state government is committed towards investigating the incident thoroughly.

Relief items such as 25kg of rice were given to the affected families by the lawmaker including cash. He also promised the to provide scholarship to the Ebsu family student and the twin sisters.
