Kano Hisbah arrests man licking goat’s genital in viral video

Operatives of the Kano State Hisbah Board have arrested a 24-year-old man, Shamsu Yakubu, for allegedly engaging in an obscene act involving a goat.

Yakubu, a resident of Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area, was apprehended on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, after a disturbing video surfaced on social media showing him seemingly licking the genitals of a goat.

The video, which quickly went viral, has reportedly sparked public outrage in the state.

In the video sighted by LIB, Yakubu is seen directing another individual to record him while he performs the inappropriate act on the animal.

When questioned, he claimed he undertook the act in a bid to “go viral” and achieve fame on social media.

However, members of his community were appalled by the behaviour and reportedly threatened to deal with him.

A local community leader intervened and promptly alerted the Hisbah Board, which led to Yakubu’s arrest.

During preliminary interrogation in Kano, the suspect denied actually licking the goat’s genitalia.

“I swear to Allah, I did not lick the goat. I only placed my mouth near the area,” Yakubu said.

He insisted it was his first time he was engaging in such behaviour and pledged never to repeat it.

He further denied being under the influence of drugs or any intoxicating substances, but the Hisbah authorities have ordered psychiatric and drug evaluations to assess his mental and physical states.

Reacting to the incident, the Deputy Commander-General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminuddeen Abubakar, condemned the act, describing it as shameful and a violation of Islamic teachings and moral conduct.

“It is tragic that a Muslim man would subject himself to such a disgraceful act, ignoring all religious and ethical values. This individual clearly lacks any proper understanding of Islam. His pursuit of cheap social media fame has led him into disgrace,” Sheikh Aminuddeen stated.
