These attacks occurred just six days after a similar attack in Ruwi community where ten persons were shot dead and three others injured while observing a wake-keep ceremony in honour of the death of an elderly woman.

A statement from Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), Vanguard and signed by the chairman Farmasum Fuddang, stated that the peaceful and hospitable people of the local government area are under threat from terrorists who seek to seize their land and impose a caliphate which must be resisted.

“In just one week, we have lost over twenty community members due to these marauding terrorists, who are engaged in an ongoing ethnic and religious cleansing of five villages.

“On April 2nd alone, they killed over ten people. Survivors reported that the attackers, speaking the Fulani dialect, launched a brazen assault in broad daylight around noon in Mangor Tamiso, then moved to Daffo, Manguna (tagai), and invaded Hurti and Tadai,” the statement added.

The group commended the efforts of the security agencies for their swift response to distress calls, which helped to minimize casualties recorded in the attacks.

Members of the communities are encouraged to be vigilant, and employ means of complementing security agencies in warding off threats from attackers.

“The people of Bokkos must not allow themselves to be slaughtered or rely solely on government security forces, who cannot be everywhere or protect everyone. At the very least, citizens should arm themselves with non-prohibited weapons to delay attackers until help arrives. anything less could be fatal.”

The attacks on communities in Bokkos local government area are becoming too frequent, with members of the affected communities calling on concern authorities to provide adequate security in the area.
