The incident which happened on Saturday February, 22nd, 2025 was sequel to the forceful take over of some motor parks by the group loyal to National Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers Union, Musiliu Akinsanya {MC Oluomo}.

It could be recalled that last year January 17th, 2024, some groups invaded the Ikorodu motor Parks and forcefully take over the garage, thereby killing the Chairman of the Park Mr Samuel Adebayo, and many others, while some sustained varying degrees of injury, while several properties were destroyed.

It was gathered that part of their target that fateful day was one Popoola Kehinde Samuel who was said to be a trader in the park, but was considered to be a close friend to the slain Samuel Adebayo.

During the crisis, Popoola Kehinde who managed to escape the attack, was considered to be a clog in the wheel of the smooth running of the Union because many of the documents needed for how the Union will access its funds were kept in his custody by the former Chairman, and this has seriously made the new leadership not to perform its role.

Speaking on the Saturday’s attack, Mrs Popola Olawunmi said since the incident of last year, her life has not be the same. She said the garage boys have continually harass her, even when her husband, Popoola Kehinde Samuel had to run for his life and left the Country, the hoodlums constant threatened her and attack her on several times.

She said her case is now complicated following the emergence of the sponsored bof the hoodlums as the National President of NURTW, he had been using his influence to torment the entire family.

“When they came on Saturday, we were fast asleep when I heard a strange noise on the main door, I thought it was a normal noise, but within five minutes, they have gained entrance, I and the three of my Children had to beg them, my Children were weeping profusely and I was on my kneel begging for my life. They turned the entire flat upside down. When they could not see anything, they hit me with a big stick, and I was just begging them to save my life and that odf my Children.

“They vandalized many of the furnitures, electronics and shattered the louvres. We were very scared.

“One of the hoodlums were saying that they were after my husband who kept a document of the Union in his custody. They vowed to use all means to get to my husband and deal with him whenever they see him.
