‘They’re my girls’ — Ayra Starr hints at collaboration with Tems, Tyla

Ayra Starr, the Nigerian songstress, has hinted at future collaboration with colleagues Tems and Tyla.

Starr was featured in a red carpet interview at the 2025 MOBO Awards, an annual ceremony which honours achievements in “music of black origin”.

When asked if she would be working with Tems and Tyla in the future, Starr said: “Of course, those are my girls. Of course”.

The three singers had previously been spotted together during last year’s Detty December festivities in Lagos.

Born Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, Starr became a viral sensation after releasing her hit track ‘Bloody Samaritan’ in 2021.

Under the music producer Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, the songstress has gained popularity in the industry.

She also earned a plethora of awards and nominations for her craft.

At the 2025 MOBO Awards, Starr won ‘Best International Act’ (the first African female to win the prize) and ‘Best African Music Act’ (the first female to win the prize in 16 years).

Tems, on the other hand, rose to fame in 2020, courtesy of her collaboration with Wizkid on the song ‘Essence’. She released her debut EP ‘For Broken Ears’ the same year.

The songstress won her first-ever Grammy award in February 2023. She was also honoured with a ‘Breakthrough Award’ at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music Awards.

In 2025, Tems won another Grammy award in the ‘Best African Music Performance’ category for ‘Love Me Jeje’.

Tyla is a South African singer. In 2023, she gained global popularity for her single ‘Water’ which won several awards, including the Grammys
