Valentine Tragedy: Cement loaded truck rams into house, kills 5 in Nnewi

About five persons were on Friday confirmed dead after a trailer fully loaded with cement failed to brake and rammed into a residential building in Nnewi, Anambra State.

A source said the incident happened around the Police Area Command headquarters in Nnewi.

A viral video circulated on social media showed the bodies of children and adults who were killed in the accident, including the damaged house where the victims were before the incident occurred.

A woman in one of the videos, who was wailing uncontrollably was said to have lost two of her children in the incident. Sources said the incident happened in the evening of Thursday, a time when many families were out, celebrating Valentine’s Day.

As of the time of filing this report, no official press statement has been released by the Anambra State Police command.
