“How Marketers made me leave Nollywood industry” – Actress Biodun Okeowo shares her plight

Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has finally opened up on why she left the Yoruba movie industry.

The curvy actress, on her social media page, claimed that marketers were the reason she left the industry after blãcklisting her for refusing to sleep with them. She said they even told producers to stop featuring her in movies and went as far as removing her head from the poster of a film where she played the lead role.

Biodun questioned how much of their wicked actions she should talk about as she noted how they did so much damage to her career, which made her walk away from the industry. She noted how she developed so much hatred for a job she once had a passion for that, she began to turn jobs down.

“Marketers were the reason I left the movie industry after blácklisting me for refusing to remove my panties. They even told producers to stop featuring me in movies and went as far as removing my head from the poster of a film where I played the lead role. How many of their w!cked actions should I even talk about? They did so much damage to my career then that l eventually got tired of acting and walked away by myself. I developed so much h@tred for a job I once had so much passion for that I began to turn jobs down”.

Her bombshell drew several mixed reactions from netizens.

One Mrhorlic wrote, “VDM never life, these ladies need to come out to start calling names. We need to know the Black Jesus in this entertainment industry”.

In September 2023, Omoborty spoke out on the ills in the movie industry, revealing how some of her colleagues were blackl!sted from movie roles because they failed to compromise their principles with influential figures. She disclosed that some of them experienced the embarrassment of having their children sent home from school back then because they hadn’t been offered work and couldn’t pay school fees. However, by the grace of God, they were able to overcome those challenges.

In November, of that year, Omoborty turned a new leaf and embarked on a new journey. The Yoruba star revealed that she was saying goodbye to body-revealing outfits, as she urged brands to help make her reality come true.
