Intelligence sources informed AIT that the attack was a response to the recent death of a notorious terrorist leader, Kachalla Jafaru, who was killed during a military operation in Bilbis.

Jafaru was infamous for orchestrating kidnappings for ransom and terrorizing communities, including Hayin Gada and Kunchin Kalgo. He was also the brother of Ado Aliero, a notorious bandit leader on the Nigerian military’s most-wanted list.

Following Jafaru’s death, terrorists in the area reportedly mobilized for a retaliatory attack on Bilbis. Security operatives, alerted to the threat, launched a counter-operation at about 11:30 a.m., engaging the attackers in a fierce gun battle that lasted until 4:00 p.m.

The joint military and CJTF forces successfully repelled the assault, killing several terrorists and inflicting severe injuries on others. They also recovered weapons and numerous motorcycles used by the attackers.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing security operatives transporting the bodies of five terrorists on motorcycles and one in a vehicle, along with other confiscated items
