Ogun Peoples Democratic Party (PDD) Youth Leader, Oyejide Sunkanmi, has revealed plans to reposition and strategize the youth wing to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming elections.
Speaking at the party’s youth retreat at the PDP secretariat in Abeokuta, Oyejide explained that the youths, who make up approximately 70% of voters, will implement the party’s strategies and ideas at the local government and ward levels.
The retreat brought together 20 local government youth leaders and three senatorial youth leaders, with Oyejide urging youths to move beyond social media criticism and join a party with a good ideology.
The youth leader equally highlighted the PDP’s youth-friendly approach, citing the national youth leader’s age of 27, and encouraged youths to join the party for a platform to achieve their goals.
He said “The youth leader of PDP in Ogun state. It’s a youth retreat and every party has its own youths. We need to bring our youth leaders forward and prepare them for the task ahead and the task is to make PDP win in the coming election in 2027.
“When you look at the population of voters, you will see that the youth carries almost 70 percent that is why we have to engage our youths, communicate the idea to them so that they can all go to their respective local government and wards and implement the strategies and ideas of the party.
According to Oyejide, With this renewed focus on youth engagement, the Ogun PDP is poised to make a significant impact in the upcoming elections.
He added “We have invited all the 20 local government youth leaders, the three senatorial youth leaders. Most of youth belive in running their politics on the social media, criticizing the government but this is not right. They need to look for a party with good ideology that they can join.
“For instance in PDP, our national youth leader is just 27 years old that shows that PDP is a friendly party and we have been sending the message to our youths that PDP is the right party they can join. It will give them the platform to do.wjatever they want to do.
“When you look at the last election, 85 percent of our Councillors were under 30. While 65 percent of Chairmen were below 40 that shows that our youths are ready to take over”
In his address, Chairman of the party, Abayomi Tella reiterated that the PDP is committed to devising strategies to ensure the party’s victory in the 2027 elections.
