…inducts new members
To mark the 120 years of its existence, the Abeokuta Sports Club last Saturday commisioned two special projects to mark the celebration.
Parts of the projects commissioned include canteen for the chalets and Renovation of another Four blocks of chalets.
Speaking at the event held at Kensington Adebutu Multipurpose Hall, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun said the Sports Club has impacted positively on the development of Sports in Ogun State
Represented by the Commissioner for Sports, Alh. Wasu Isiaka, Governor Abiodun who was the Chairman of the day said the State government based on his commitment to Sports development has commenced reconstruction and renovation works of the MKO Abiola International Stadium and the Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, Abeokuta, ahead of the National Sports Festival tagged ‘2024 Gateway Games’.
He thanked Abeokuta Sports Club for identifying many sports giants in the State while assuring that the government will not relent in its efforts in supporting sports clubs in the State.
Earlier while welcoming members and guests to the occasion, the President of Abeokuta Sports Club Prince Seni Ogunyemi thanked members for their dedication and commitment.
While calling on new inductees to be dedicated to the ideals of the Sports Club, said the sports club is known for its finesse and human capital development in sports
The two projects commissioned were canteen for the chalets and Renovation of another Four blocks of chalets.
Many important personalities were present at the well attended programme, and they include Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, who is also inducted as the Grand patron of the Sports Club.
Other royal father’s present include, Olowu of Owu, Oba Adeola Matemilola and others.
64 new members were later inducted into the Club with Alake as the Grand patron of the Club charging them to be of good conduct as a member of the Prestigious Club.
