Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has praised the efforts of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, over the construction of a 2.7km Garage junction-Okefia-Lameco Road in the state.

This was just as he equally paid a visit to a popular industrialist, philanthropist and nonagenarian, Chief Yusuf Amuda Lawal, at his home in Osogbo, on Wednesday.

Obasanjo, who applauded Adeleke for giving a befitting transformation to Osogbo, the state capital, through the newly constructed road, said he had surpassed his predecessors and disappointed critics who thought he could not achieve because of his dancing habit.

This was made known in a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, who made it available to newsmen in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The ex-president said that with the inauguration of the 2.7km Garage junction-Okefia-Lameco Road on Tuesday, Adeleke had changed the status in the history of the entire Yoruba race both at home and in Diaspora.

He said, “What we are seeing from the governor in Osogbo, Ife, Ede, Ilesa, Ikire and others are not for you people alone, but, the entire Yoruba race globally.

“Ile-Ife, the cradle of Yoruba race is in Osun State, so the development of Osun is in the interest of the entire Yoruba race. Ignore what your predecessors have failed to do. Focus on moving Osun to greater height and you will be doing good for the Yoruba people globally.

“I decided to be here against all odds because of the successes Governor Adeleke achieved within two years. The governor have disappointed critics, he has shown that he is not only a good dancer, but also a good performer.”

Earlier, the governor stated that his administration was committed to delivering on his agenda to reviving the state economy through infrastructure development.

In another development, Obasanjo early on Wednesday morning, visited the nonagenarian and philanthropist leader commonly known as Obelawo at his Obelawo area of Osogbo. The renowned industrialist, who clocked 94 earlier this year, was met full of life in his country home.

He prayed fervently for longevity and good health in the presence of some of his children and close associate, Chief Oyewole Fasawe, as he departed the State at about 7:30 AM.
