The Orile- Imo Community Traditional Council Of Baales, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Ogun State has announced the suspension of three Baales from participating in activities that has to do with the administration of Orile-imo community traditional council.
The Council said the Baales were suspended over alleged misconduct against the body and deliberate act of insubordination and disrespect to the Council.
The suspended Baales are Chief Taofeek Akinsola, Chief Ajani Ogunjimi and Chief Adio Popoola.
This was disclosed In a statement signed by the Secretary of Orile-Imo Community Traditional Council, Chief Isaac Olaoye , the Baale of Agbedi community.
The Council accused Chief Adio Popoola, the Baale of Sofolu village of parading himself as the chairman of the council, saying that the Asiwaju of Orile-Imo, High Chief Dr. Olakunle Olalekan Joseph remains their chairman.
The Baales passed a vote of confidence on High Chief Dr. Olakunle Olalekan as the authentic Chairman of the council
They said Asiwaju of Orile-Imo has initiated projects that have touched lives of the people of the community, describing him as a man of integrity.
According to them, High Chief Olakunle Olalekan is committed to stabilize and reposition the community to a greater height.
The Statement reads ” With reference to the above subject matter, we hereby convey reports and suspension notice of the following Baales who are members of Orile-Imo Traditional Council of Baales due to their misconduct against the body and deliberate act of insubordination and disrespect to the Orile-Imo community Traditional Council of Baales for erring away from upholding Constitution of Orile-Imo Council of Baale. Their names are as follows;
- Chief Taofeek Akinsola (Baale of Oba Akinsola)
- Chief Ajani Ogunjimi (Ligbakule of Imo, Oguji)
3 Chief Adio Popoola (Baale Sofolu)
The Constitution of Orile-Imo Community Traditional Council of Baales stated as follows;
- The Council shall not recognize PARALLEL GROUPS OF BAALES formed apart from the approved Orile-Imo Traditional Council of Baales Article 7 (fi) MEMBERSHIP as contained in the Constitution of Orile-Imo Community Traditional Council of Baales 2023 (as amended) contradicted the Baales in question being conveyance of meetings with some members of Orile-Imo Community Traditional Council of Baales and with two (2) suspended Baales by the lawful/prescribed by Imo Traditional Council years ago there are;
i. Chief Sawaliu Jimoh Sorinola (Asonle)
ii. Chief Musibau Ojewale (Abule Edun)
Misconduct also according to the Constitution of Orile-Imo Baale in Council Article 2 (1) “The Executive Council of Baale shall meet forthnightly at the venue determined by the Council” THE CODE OF CONDUCT Article 13 (ii) stated as follows “A Baale must abide by the decision of the majority even when he has strong opposing view and decision adversely affect him” upon this, they have been calling for meetings on which the executive committee had not been aware of in the name of Baale in Council apart from normal schedule of meeting which the Chairman Orile-Imo Baale in Council must be aware of meetings and give approval and directive through the P.R.O. Article 13 (xi) “The loyalty of Baale to constituted authority such the State/Local Government, traditional rulers, shall be whole.” Therefore holding meetings by the so called members of Orile-Imo Baale In Council without caution motive towards Imo Traditional Council view to the personalities that should be involved is a contradiction to the constitution and standing rules of Orile-Imo Council of Baale” Article 9A (1) (a) (1) (b) “The Chairman shall be the head and spokesman of the Council, He shall preside at all meetings of the Council…
” The Orile-Imo Traditional Council of Baales with the power vested on the whole house and the executive had no option in order to uphold and defend the Constitution of Orile-Imo Community Traditional Council of Baale 2023 (as amended) which provides that (a) High handedness (b) insubordination (c) disrespect to ‘lawful authorities such as Imo Traditional Council on the suspension of two Baales engaged with meetings by members of Orile-Imo Council of Baale to exercise for the functions and responsibility of the executive by setting up a disciplinary committee for the purpose and such purposes to this effect.
Sanction For Misconduct
The three (3) Baales who are members of Orile-Imo Community Traditional Council of Baales are hereby suspended from all activities that has to do with the administration of Orile-Imo Council of Baale until they are able to appear before the disciplinary committee to defend their ACTS OF INSUBORDINATION AND DISRESPECT TO THE BAALE IN COUNCIL pending the determination of this matter by the Orile-Imo Baale in Council in accordance with Article 14 (2) of the Constitution of Orile Imo Community Traditional Council of Baales.
