Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has expressed sadness over the passing of Chief Isola Akinsipo, the Akogun of Owu Kingdom and veteran broadcaster, who died on Tuesday, 15 October, 2024, at the age of 69 years.

Senator Amosun in a statement signed by his media aide, Lanre Akinwale, described Chief Isola Akinsipo’s death as a painful loss of a selfless Owu indigene who exemplified the rich cultural heritage and traditional values of the Owu people.

According to the former Governor, “Akogun Akinsipo’s contributions and commitment to the development of Owu Kingdom, Egbaland, and Ogun State have been exemplary. He dedicated himself fully to the advancement of Owu kingdom, leaving a lasting legacy, especially through his pivotal roles as the Head of the Iwerefa.

“As a broadcaster, Chief Isola Akinsipo was a household name renowned for his exceptional mastery of the Yoruba language, exemplified by his smooth, fluent, and flawless presentation of Yoruba news and quiz programme, ‘Fogbon Yo’ on NTA Abeokuta.”

Senator Amosun, while condoling with the Akinsipo family of Owu Abeokuta, the Olowu of Owu kingdom, Oba (Prof.) Saka Matemilola, the Balogun of Owu Kingdom, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Owu Council of Chiefs, and all indigenes of Owu Kingdom, prayed that the Almighty Allah (SWT) will grant Chief Isola Akinsipo Aljannah Firdaus and give his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
