The Public Relations Officer of the Ogun Police Command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, said it happened at about 9:00 a.m. on Friday.

Odutola disclosed that the roommate of the deceased, Obabiyi David, had gone to the Sango-Ota Police Division to report that his flatmate was acting odd and had even attacked him with a knife, which he managed to escape.

She noted that based on this information, a team from the division was sent to question Urhobocha regarding the alleged attack, but upon arrival, they found the room locked from the inside.

The spokesperson said the officers, who eventually forced the door open, discovered the suspect lying dead.

Odutola said, “He was discovered dead in the apartment, with a container of insecticide found next to his body.

“He was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical attention, but the attending doctor confirmed him dead. His body has been placed in the morgue for an autopsy.”

She maintained that an investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding his death.

Salient Times reports that the incident happened just a day after a 32-year-old man, Oluwaseun Shorinola, died by suicide in the Kémta area of Abeokuta.’
