The Olowofela Community in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State has petitioned the State government over an alleged attempt by the Olu of Itori, Oba Akorede Akamo to install another Baale in the community, an act that may fuel communal violence.
The Community in a petition signed by Baale Babatunde Adewale Bambi, and addressed to the State Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs alleged that Oba Akamo has perfected plans to install another Baale outside his domain calling on government to call him to order.
The petition titled, “A Passionate Appeal To Restraint Oba Fatai Akamo Olu Of Itori From Installing Another Baale In Olowofela village, Ifo Local Government Area 0gun State And possibly Cause Breakdown Of Law And Order”, appealed to the government to restrain Oba Fatai Akamo from giving impetus to the reign of Mr. Babatunde Abiodun Adeyinka from being installed as Baale.
“The entire Olowofela Community, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State on whose behalf and we write as follows:
Olowofela village is an Egba settlement in Ifo Local Government area which has
been peaceful and its inhabitants have been living in peace and harmony
“Olowofela village currently has a Baale who has been superintending over the affairs of the village and enjoys the support and confidence of the people.
“However, recently the Oba Fatal Akorede Akamo wants to install one Mr. Babatunde
Abiodun Adeyinka as Baale of Olowofela
“The community said Babatunde Abiodun Adeyinka has been cursing disharmony and creating unnecessary tension within the Olowofela Community, in the recent time particularly during the exercise of crop communication being carried out by Dangote Cement Company within Olowofela village in Ifo Local Government within the Jurisdiction of prescribed authority who is Olu of Ifo, the man has been formetting trouble among the people of Olowofela village.
“We therefore left with no other than to appeal to your noble personality to come to Our
rescue by restraining Oba Fatai Akamo from giving impetus to the reign of Mr. Babatunde
Abiodun Adeyinka from being installed as Baale.
