The assembly has summoned Oba Taofeek Owolabi̇ Kayode to appear before it on Wednesday regarding allegations of land grabbing leveled against him by the Agboro, Olatunde and four other villages in Obafemi Owode Local Government area of Ogun State.

It could be recalled that the chairman of the House committee on Lands and Housing, Hon. Damilola Soneye again issued the summon in Abeokuta last Wednesday during a committee meeting with representatives of the Agboro Latunde Community Development Association.

Also present were the Executives of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyor, Ogun State chapter.

Addressing the community leaders, last Wednesday, chairman, house committee on Lands and Housing, Hon. Damilola Soneye assured of fairness and justice to all concerns, while warning the community against taking laws into their hands

He said for fairness and equity, the Committee will for the last time invite the Monarch to appear before it on Wednesday 17th July, 2024, by 2pm.

He assured that the outcome of the committee will be fair to all parties.

He warned that the failure of the royal father to honour the invitation would prompt the Assembly to take a stiffer measure.

But as the representatives of the Communities took their seat at the Committee room at the Assembly yesterday, a staff of the Assembly informed them that the sitting could not hold because of the absence of Oba Taofeek Owolabi Kayode.

Though the reasons for the absence of the Monarch were not stated, the community were later told to go to their homes saying that necessary steps would be taken to address their grievances.

Speaking, a community leader said the whole community has absolute trust in the Assembly to handle the matter, saying that the trust is unshaken.

He then urged the youths and other community leaders present to remain calm as the leaders will also liaise with the house to ensure that their grievances are addressed.
