Ex-Benue Governor, Ortom Denies Buying, Inheriting airplane For The State

Former Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom has denied that he inherit an aircraft belonging to the state from his predecessor and never purchased any for the state during his tenure as governor.

The former governor made the clarification Monday while reacting to a recent allegation by Governor Hyacinth Alia during a zoom meeting with the Benue diaspora community organized by the Mutual Union of Tiv in America, MUTA and the Idoma Association in the United States.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Terso Kula had quoted the Governor saying “the governor revealed that Air transportation is not so functional, saying he understands the state has an airplane but its whereabouts is still being looked into.”

A release made available to journalists in Makurdi not during the regime of Governor Samuel 0rtom between 2015-2023 saying when the administration took over from the predecessor we met no aeroplane on ground belonging to the state.

The former aide said during Ortom led administration he didn’t purchase any aeroplane through it’s eight years reign.

He wondered where this claim is coming from describing the allegation as unfounded.

According to him, let them show evidence with prove when it was purchased make and brand of the the plane.

Governor Alia was quoted to have spoke this yesterday during his conversation with zoom interface with Mutual union of Tiv in America Muta and association Idoma in United States of America:

“For the purposes of clarity the state had never bought Aeroplane in its 46 years of existence insisting the aeroplane was contained in the the handover document arguing it is their figment of their imagination..
