Homicide detectives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a driver identified as Daniel for running over a 5-year-old girl with his car at Adura Field in the Ijaye Ojokoro area of the state.

The victim, identified as Fatima, was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.

The incident occurred on Thursday around 2 pm on Thursday, MARCH 28, 2024.

I was gathered that the driver of the Toyota Camry Toyota Camry car with registration number FST 843 GY was reversing at Adura Field and unknowingly knocked down the victim.

Spokesperson of the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the incident on Friday, said the family was granted access to the corpse at their request for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

 

Hundeyin said information received about the incident revealed that the driver was reversing when he knocked down the girl.

 

“She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. The corpse of the little girl was released to her family on demand, for burial according to the Islamic injunction, while the suspect and the vehicle are in police custody for investigation,” he added
