Senator Ned Nwoko, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) representing Delta North at the Senate, has said he cannot marry a woman who is not a virgin.

Nwoko stated this in an interview with journalist Seun Okinbaloye on the latest edition of the Mic On Podcast set for full release on Saturday, March 16.

The lawmaker said several women were presented to him for marriage by his uncles but he rejected them because they didn’t meet his standards.

“My uncles brought some local girls for me to marry and I said ‘No they don’t meet what I want,’” he said.

Nwoko revealed that he married actress Regina Daniels because she is a native of Delta State too.

“For her particularly, I married her because she is from my place,” he said.

Then he added, “I cannot marry a woman who is not a virgin.”

Nwoko married Regina in 2018 and was criticised for going for a much younger woman in the actress. The couple has two children, Munir and Khalifa both boys.

Nwoko also commented on the allegations of budget padding made by the now-suspended Senator Abdul Ningi.

“Senators get what they want, what they lobby for. It was more or less a northern senators’ issue. it’s just the system,” he said.

Asked if he got up to N500 million for constituency projects like some of the principal officers of the Senate, the lawmaker answered, ‘Of course, yes.’

Pressed again if he got up to a billion naira, he replied, ‘Of course’.

On his bill to allow citizens bear arms, Nwoko said, “My executive aide got kidnapped and killed. If a guy like him had a licensed gun he wouldn’t have been picked like a chicken. If you’re speaking for the government and you say ‘The government does not have money to recruit more policemen,’ then allow people to defend themselves. Give opportunity for those who want to have guns to have them.”
