President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Kemi Nanna Nandap as the comptroller-general (CG) of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), effective from March 1.

In a statement on Wednesday, Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesperson, said Nandap will take over from Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju, whose term in office will expire on February 29.

Before she was appointed as the CG, Nandap was the deputy comptroller-general in charge of the migration directorate of the service.

The president asked the new CG to “deepen the ongoing reforms in the service and create a robust mechanism for efficient and dedicated service delivery” to citizens.

Tinubu urged her to improve the country’s security through effective border security and migration management.

On May 29, 2023, Tinubu appointed Adepoju as the acting CG to replace Isah Jere, whose tenure expired on the same day.

In November 2023, Tinubu confirmed the appointment of Adepoju as the substantive CG.
