Gruesome murder of Ogun Monarch: Court resumes hearing, docks Fourteen 

The Ogun State high Court sitting in Ilaro has resumed hearing on the gruesome murder of Olu of Agodo, Oba Olajide Odetola-Ayinde, a slain monarch from a town in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.

At the resumed hearing on Tuesday, Fourteen suspects were arraigned before the Court on Six count charge.

The suspects and others said to be at large were charged with counts which are that; they did conspired among themselves to commit felony an offence punishable under section 320 Law of Federation of Nigeria; that the accused did murder one Oba Olajide Ayinde Odetola, the Alagodo of Agodo town and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319 of the Criminal Code Law of Ogun State of Nigeria 2006, that the accused also allegedly did set ablaze the corpse of Oba Olajide Ayinde Odetola together with his Toyota Sienna car with Reg No. APP 55 GF and thereby committed and offence contrary to section 443 of the Criminal Code Law of Ogun State of Nigeria 2006.

The suspects had on Monday, 24th January 2022, allegedly killed Oba Olajide Ayinde at Agodo.

It was gathered that the late traditional ruler went to his village to clear the grave side of his late brother on a portion of land, when all of a sudden, a group of hoodlums numbering about 50; led by one Gbeminiyi Sotade attacked him while three other relatives were assaulted and macheted.

The suspects bundled the traditional ruler into his Red Toyota Sienna SUV 2016 model with registration number APP 55 GF, while one Agbara drove the vehicle in the company of other hoodlums to a nearby forest. They poured petrol on the vehicle and set it ablaze with the corpse locked inside.

The accused are; Abiodun Sanyaolu, Lukman Azeez, Fatai Ramon, Adeniyi Samuel Akinjiyan, Femi Adeniyi, Monsuru Ramon, Ojo Olatidebe, Segun Akinjiyan, Adewale Odunayo, Oladele Idowu, Saheed Ramon and Ajinbosin Gbeminiyi.

Two witnesses including the driver of the slain king were interrogated at the resumed hearing on Tuesday.

The Court then adjourned to April 29 and May 7, 2024 for continue hearing.
