The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial candidate for the forthcoming February 3rd bye-election in Ebonyi South zone, Barr Silas Onu has expressed concern over exclusion of Ebonyi judge from federal capital territory High court Bench.

Barr. Onu described such as injustice to humanity meted to the people of Ebonyi State in the just concluded appointment of judges in the federal capital territory High court.

Barrister Onu, in a press statement made available to journalists in Ebonyi state, called on the NJC to discontinue the unjust process the appointment of judges in the FCT High Court to immediately include Ebonyi state where the applications are expected from.

According to him, he said the publication listed the States where applicants are expected, and to his greatest shock, Ebonyi State is once more deliberately not listed among the States where applications are expected from, and today, as the FCT High Court is presently constituted, Ebonyi State is visibly not represented on that Bench

“We have no single judge there! Is the federal character principle blind to the interest of Ebonyians? Or are we considered not to be good enough for the FCT Bench? The publication listed states that already dominates the FCT High Court as if it has become the exclusive preserve of these States.

“I call on the Federal Judicial Service Commission and National Judicial Council to discontinue this unjust process and immediately include Ebonyi State as one of the focal States with a minimum of 3 slots to make up for our absence on the FCT Bench,” he said

The Candidate, however, calls all well-meaning Nigerians, the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA Abuja, the Nigeria Government, and as well Nigerian Senate
to lend their voices towards correcting this obvious and deliberate act of excluding Ebonyi State from having even a single judge on the FCT Bench.
