President Bola Tinubu has asked security agencies to rescue the pupils kidnapped in Ekiti state.

The president also promised that the killers of the two traditional rulers in Ekiti would not escape justice.

On Monday, gunmen kidnapped six pupils of Apostolic Faith School, three teachers and a driver at Eporo-Ekiti.

The gunmen abandoned the school bus conveying the pupils after the attack.

The abduction of the pupils and their teachers occurred a few hours after two traditional rulers were murdered by suspected kidnappers in the state.

The monarchs were said to be returning from a meeting in Irele-Ekiti when they were ambushed and gunned down.

The traditional rulers were identified as Oba David Ogunsakin, the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti; and Oba Olatunde Olusola, the Onimojo of Omojola-Ekiti.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ajuri Ngelale, presidential spokesperson, said Tinubu sympathised with the people of Ekiti over the murder of the traditional rulers.

“It is with grief that President Bola Tinubu receives the news of the killing of two traditional rulers in Ekiti State, the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Samuel Olusola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Babatunde Ogunsola,” the statement reads.

“President Tinubu condemns this mindless and brutal bloodletting and pledges that the perpetrators will not escape justice.

Ngelale said Tinubu assured Nigerians that the “nation’s security architecture is being robustly fortified for better and expected outcomes”.
