Tinubu Aide Commends OPDs, CSOs , Others For Advocacy Enactment Of National Disability Law, Establishment Of National Commission For PWDs

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa has said that President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is ready to Champion the rights of persons with disabilities and to enhance their inclusion in the government
Abba Isa, however, Commended all the Organizations of Persons With Disabilities (OPDs), donors, development partners, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and other stakeholders for their relentless advocacy, passion, resilience, and dedication that led to the enactment of the National Disability Law and the establishment of the National Commission for Persons With Disabilities (NCPWD).
Hon. Abba Isa made this known on Wednesday, when he Graced the event commemorating the 5th Anniversary of the passage of the National Disability Law.

He noted that the program, was organized by the Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) in collaboration with his office and Rolac/Idea International, to mark the transition from the moratorium phase to the critical phase of implementing the National Disability Act.
His words, “With the expiration of the five-year moratorium window, we are now focusing on the next crucial phase: the implementation of the National Disability Act. I invite partners, government agencies, civil society, and private sector partners to join hands in ensuring the effective implementation of this historic legislation.”
According to his speech at the event, Hon.Abba Isa, highlighted the significance of this moment and acknowledged the decades of activism and advocacy that have brought them here.
He therefore, expressed gratitude to OPDs, donors, and development partners for their support and emphasized that kid their work is far from over. according to him “I called for collaboration to overcome challenges and create a more accessible and inclusive environment for all.”
Abba Isa also assured the commitment of the government Of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to championing the rights of persons with disabilities. added they have initiated strategic partnerships, awareness campaigns, and assessments of policies to enhance disability inclusion.
He said ” In 2024, my office promises a greater drive for disability inclusion and opportunities. We will launch the Joint Presidential Task Team in partnership with National Commission for Persons with Disabilities- NCPWD, Nigeria to oversee the thorough implementation of the National Disability Act.”
“I call upon all stakeholders to foster collaboration and partnership as we navigate the road ahead. Despite potential challenges, unity will be our strength. Let’s work together to effectively implement the National Disability Law, creating a cornerstone for a more inclusive society.” Abba Isa said.
