Labour Party Supporters Decry Clampdown On Their Businesses
Some business owners in the Lagos island who were believed to have supported the presidential candidate of the Labour party in the last year’s general election; Mr. Peter Gregory Obi has decried witch-hunt of the businesses by the Lagos state Government and their officials.
It was alleged that the owners of the buildings which house their businesses has increase their yearly rent by 400% insisting that they should consider vacating their business premises as an alternative.
One of the traders who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said the witch-hunting came as an aftermath to the decision of Lagosians to have a change in government which spur them to voting for the candidate of the Labour party in Lagos state and which saw to the massive defeat of the incumbent president in his home state.
He also alleged that most of the buildings which are owned by Easterners are been marked for demolition by the state government in his fraudulent revisits to the adherence of Lagos state building rules.
He further claimed that efforts are currently been made by the business owners in that area to meet with the government of Lagos state and see to the peaceful resolution of the matter.
