GendDi’s Annual Christmas Celebration: A Blend of Joy and Enlightenment in Soremekun Village
In a vibrant celebration, Gender Development Initiative (GendDi) has illuminated Soremekun Village in Odeda local government area of Ogun State with joy and enlightenment during its Annual Christmas Party
Over 100 children and 50 adults gathered for a day filled with festivities and valuable insights.
The event kicked off with a prayer by a revered village elder, setting a positive tone for the day.

Mr. Soyinka’s opening speech highlighted the significance of community and urged the participants to stay away from domestic violence, emphasizing its serious consequences like long-term health issues, anxiety, and depression.
In his welcome address,the VillageHead gave kudos to GendDi’s mission, appreciating their efforts towards empowering the community.
He called for more of such events in the area as he thanked Prof. Olubunmi Ashimolowo, the GendDi leader for her foresight.
Amid pump and ceremony GendDi delivered engaging talks on topics such as birth control, healthy relationships, and the importance of educating girls.
Ms. Olayinka Oyewole shared insights into family planning, maternal health and economic stability, empowering women to make informed choices.
Addressing the dangers of domestic violence, GendDi stressed mutual respect within families, fostering a safer environment.

They championed education as a tool for gender equality, illustrating the potential of educated girls to become leaders.
Professor Bunmi Ashimolowo advocated against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), inspiring the community to stand up for equality,as Gendi Santa Claus added magic to the day with gifts and treats, bringing smiles to all.
The event showcased the impact of community engagement, demonstrating that even a Christmas party could spark positive change.
It called for wider support to create a more just and equitable future for marginalized communities.
