National Police Service Council has confirmed former Acting Inspector General of Police , Kayode Egbetokun as the Substantive IGP and Head of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Geidam, announced this on Tuesday while briefing State House reporters after the council meeting presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said council members endorsed the president’s proposal for his confirmation.

Geidam, who said the IGP had been serving in an acting capacity since he was appointed four months ago, stated that records had “shown that he has impressive Curricula Vitae and has also completed numerous police and security courses”, making him highly qualified for the position.

According to him, “During my brief time working with him, I have observed that he is well-qualified, exceptionally honest, transparent, and incredibly hardworking. As a result, we fully endorse President Tinubu’s proposal to confirm him as the Substantive”.
