The Delta state police command in collaboration with the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) led by Comrade (Elder) A.P. Edariese, apprehended the suspect after the matter was reported by the victim.

It was gathered that Odiete had managed to evade arrest for approximately two months following the incident.

The victim (name withheld), had reported the incident to the Nigeria Police Force, Area Command, Ughelli, in August, and the CDHR, swung into action, leading to the apprehension of the elusive perpetrator.

According to a statement by CDHR Delta State Chairman, Comrade A.P. Edariese; “This incident is one of too many of its kind in our present-day society and should serve as a deterrent to others with similar intentions.”

The septuagenarian praised the Area Commander of the Delta Central Area Command, Ughelli, for his efforts in apprehending the suspect.

Sources say Odiete is currently in custody at the “A” Division in Ughelli Area Command, Delta state.
