Landscape Horticulture: NILH To Honour Ogun Govt, FUNAAB, Babcock, Eminent Academics

The Nigeria Institute of Landscape Horticulturists (NILH) is set to honour Ogun State Government, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), and Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, along with distinguished individuals, at its upcoming 16th National Conference and Annual General Meeting hosted by the Ogun State Chapter.

The awardees, including former Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. O. O. Balogun, former Provost of Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Aro, Dr. Mrs. Taiwo Adamson, former Vice-Chancellor of Augustine University, llara, Epe, Prof. S.O. Afolami, and former Provost of Federal College of Education, Osiele, Dr. A.A. Ajayi, have been recognized for their unwavering support and development of the professional practice of Landscape Horticulture.

The award according to the Chairperson of the Local Organizing Committee, Mrs. O. V. Idowu, and the Secretary, Mr. Donatus Ilem, is to celebrate the remarkable recognition of the outstanding contributions of the awardees to the field of Landscape Horticulture,

The Chairman and Secretary who jointly announced the forthcoming award ceremony, said the ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, during the opening ceremony at the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

Under the Governmental/Institutional Category, both the Ogun State Government and Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, are to receive special recognition for their remarkable contributions.

Ogun State Government is set to be awarded the Special Recognition Award for Landmark Support for Environmental Landscape and Beautification Initiatives, while FUNAAB and Babcock Universities will each receive the Institutional Recognition Award for their outstanding promotion of professional practice in Landscape Horticulture.

In the individual category, the NILH is bestowing honours upon exceptional academics. Prof. Olaiya Oluwafemi Balogun has been nominated for the prestigious Nigeria Institute of Landscape Horticulturists (NILH) award.

He will also receive the Distinguished Personality Award for his extraordinary support and development of the professional practice of Landscape Horticulture.

Other individuals being honored in this category include Dr. Mrs. Taiwo Adamson, former Provost of Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital Aro, Prof. S.O. Afolami, former Vice-Chancellor of Augustine University, Ilara, Epe, and Dr. A.A. Ajayi, former Provost of Federal College of Education, Osiele, all of whom will be recognized for their exceptional contributions to the field of Landscape Horticulture.

This event promises to be a momentous occasion, celebrating the tireless efforts and dedication of these esteemed institutions and individuals in the realm of Landscape Horticulture.
