Civil servants in Ogun State have been advised to embrace a different approach to work in order to meet the set target for the overall economic development and prosperity of the State.

The Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela gave this admonition during his familiarisation meeting with the leadership of some agencies under his supervision in Abeokuta.

The agencies included Ogun State Agricultural Multipurpose Credit Agency (OSAMCA), Food Crop Marketing Board ( FCMB), Ogun State Market Development Board and Gateway Trading Company(GTC).

Mr. Sofela said the essence of being together in the government circle was to achieve a common goal, which he said were predicated on the economic growth and development of the State as well as a shared prosperity among the citizens and government .

He called for an effective synergy between the civil servants and political class in order to achieve the common goal without allowing dysfunctionality that were capable of undermining government efforts.

The Commissioner said there were lots of expectations on the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment at this crucial time, pointing out the need to shift from the old order and stereotypes but do things differently in order to achieve greater results.

“For us to be able to operate efficiently, meet our revenue targets, we all have to contribute our quota towards achieving the development agenda of Prince Dapo Abiodun led government as encapsulated in the ISEYA Agenda. We are expected to do things differently.

“This Ministry is going to play a very key role. We are the industrial capital of Nigeria. We need to consolidate on that position. We have to leverage on our competitive advantage and location, especially our proximity to Lagos,”he said.

Commending the work that had been done by his predecessors, Sofela admitted that it was not possible to build something on nothing, just as he pledged to take the past achievements to a higher pedestal.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola, described the Commissioner as a thorough-bred with top flight professional qualifications, praying that he would succeed beyond measure.
