Suspected car robbers have allegedly abandoned their gang member after a robbery operation, while hurrying to escape.
A video trending on social media showed the moment the armed robbers dispossessed the man of his vehicle, but in their haste to leave, they sped off, abandoning one of their members, who chased them on foot.
A source said the incident happened on Monday at Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area.
Ihiala is the hotbed of gunmen’s attacks in Anambra State, and has been badly ravaged by insurgency.
The source said: “This happened yesterday (Monday). In a bid to make a quick escape, the men left one of their members behind after snatching a car in Uli, Anambra State.
The state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, however, said the command was not aware of such a development.
He said: “We call on the originator of this video to reach out to the command for us to know the exact location that happened in Uli, as there is no such report before the police in the area.
“We also want to reach out to members of the community to come forward and let us know where such incidents happen in their area. You are encouraged to call 07039194332 for any information in this regard and be assured of the utmost confidentiality of such calls.”
