A prominent Owo Queen, Ondo State, Olori Tolani Elerewe of Elerewe Compound, Igboroko Owo, Ondo State has petitioned the acting inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun over the gruesome murder of a high Chief in Ondo State, Chief Tunde Lori Elerewe.

In a petition written on her behalf by a law firm, Tai Odion Idemudia & Co. Queen Elewere who is the wife of the high Chief called for a proper investigation into the murder of her husband some years ago.

The petition titled ‘Re: Murder of High Chief Tunde Ilori Elewere and Improper investigation and compromising attitude of the investigating police officers: A call for justice, said “Olori Tolani Elerewe was the wife of late High Chief Tunde Lori Elerewe who was murdered in cold blood in Owo on the 15th day of December 2021,
when the world all over was preparing for the celebration of Christmas.

“While the family of our client was rather thrown into mourning and despair by his contender one MR. FOLAHANMI OLUWOLE (a.k.a the ultimate) over chieftaincy issue and land matter supposedly to have belonged to the deceased High Chief Tunde Lori Elerewe.

‘Subsequently upon the gruesome murder of High Chief Tunde Lori Elerewe, the family through our client lodged a formal complaint vide a petition to various
security agencies including the Ondo State Police Command at Akure the Office of the Inspector General of Police the Department of State Security Services and the Office of the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to seek
justice over the dastardly act of the suspects which eventually led to the arrest of them.

“However, to the utter dismay, and chagrin of
our client, the suspects later on the same day of their arrest, were released on bail on a capital offence of that great magnitude.

“Regrettably, the suspects are all gallivanting on the streets of Owo with impunity, while the lifeless body of our client’s husband is still lying at the morgue at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.

“The truth must be told at this point that there is compromise by people in authority, This fact is juxtaposed by the threat and boasting statement made by the suspects that this case shall not see the light of day.

“The suspects who are directly affected by this petition are:
OLUWOLE FOLAHANMI
IDOWU OBADAYE
ABOBA
TUNDE OLAMOWA
KEHINDE OGUNMOLAWE (OKUPE)
ADEROBAGUN ADEKOLA

“It will be apt to say that a recall of the case file and ordering of proper
investigation will serve as a: “LITMUS TEST” for the confidence the society will
have in the Nigerian Police Force. Presently the case file is with Supol. Ibinaye Adeyanju of the IGP monitoring team is the present IPO at the Force Head Quarters, Abuja.

The Petitioner therefore asked that “the unfortunate situation that precipitated this petition was the way and manner the IPO and his team handled the matter with negligible concern or of no importance at all.

“Invariably, likened to our client’s suspicion of foul play, the said individuals were allowed to go without taking their statements or releasing them to credible persons. It is however disgusting to say that since then our client has lost confidence in the investigation and in
the culprits brought to book.
