A 20-year-old man identified as Abubakar Abdullahi has been arrested by men of the Jigawa state police command over the death of his 17-year-old girlfriend, Habiba Samaila.

 

In a statement released, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said the suspect, a resident of Koral village Garki LGA, was alleged to have been a boyfriend of the deceased.

He also said the suspect was allegedly last seen together with the deceased.

‘’On 15th Aug. 2023 at about 2000hrs, one Malam Samaila ‘m’ age 50yrs of Beguwa village, reported at Ringim Police station that, on 14th Aug. 2023 at about 2000hrs, his biological daughter one Habiba Samaila ‘f’ age 17yrs of the same address, left his house and all efforts to locate her proved abortive.”

According to Shiisu, investigations revealed that on the same date, the said Habiba was seen with one Abubakar Abdullahi, 20, of Koral village Garki LGA, who happened to be her boyfriend. He pointed out that on receipt of the information, the suspect was immediately arrested. He noted that afterwards, on August 16th at about 6pm, her decayed body was found deposited in a well, tied up with a rope.

He explained that after evacuation, the body was taken to General Hospital Ringim for medical examination and, thereafter, confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
