As the nation battles with current economic challenges as a result of the removal of oil subsidy and other economic challenges, the wife of the Governor of Ogun State, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun has urged Nigerians, especially Christian faithful not to allow the current challenges in the country to deter them from having a close relationship with God.

Mrs Abiodun said despite the current challenges Nigerians should embrace hearts of compassion, seeking opportunities to alleviate the suffering of others.

She made the appeal at the 2023,  9th annual Zonal convention of the Women Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) southwest zone, held over the weekend at Abeokuta the state capital.

Ogun first lady explained that Nigerians are going through a lot in the country currently that is very tiring and scary, therefore, appealed to every individual to hold on to their faith and God as He is the only one that can make the impossible, possible.

She said in the current economic hardship, Nigerians should not despair, rather, they should seek God’s help.

On her part, the zonal chairperson of WOWICAN, South West Zone, Prophetess Odunola Raji-Adebesin sought the empowerment of girls and women for nation-building.

Prophetess Odunola said there was a need for everyone to be conscious of the situation of the country, adding that all believers should seek diligently the face of God concerning our nation in prayers.

“I want to strongly believe that God has endowed us Women with great potential, to enable us to make a difference in the Church, in our homes, and the Society at large.

“Though We are living in a trying period with focus and prayer, self-discipline and steadfastness, we will reach the greater height prepared for us by God

Earlier, the Apostolic Church of Nigeria Abeokuta Metro Areas Chairman, Pastor Zacchaeus Olugbenga Odugbose in his goodwill message cried out over the current hardship faced by Nigerians.

Odugbose who was represented by Pastor Olukunle Odunaiya noted that the headlong fall of the Naira was responsible for the increasing rate of inflation in the country.

According to him, Nigeria’s problems are not insurmountable for God to resolve.

He called on Nigerians, especially women to seek the face of God on behalf of the nation.

He enjoined Nigerians to rise and fight for the survival of their homes, communities and the nation through prayers and unadulterated sermons.

His words, “There is no doubt our Nation is bleeding and passing through the difficult moment – Daily the number of widows, fatherless children and orphans are at increase.

“What are we going to say about the headlong fall of the Naira, which corresponds to the increasing rate of inflation – The rich are crying, and so also the poor – But the good news is that our problem is not above God’s power and intervention.

“Hence, the need to call upon God in a time like this. As women of faith, strongly rooted in Christ Jesus – we have been given a ministry to overturn the situation by standing in the gap.

“Some may choose to complain, some may choose to murmur, some may choose to collapse, but on this mount, in this convention, we have chosen to call unto the name of our God.
