Sit-at-home: One person dies as traders protest the closure of Enugu market shops
No less than one person was allegedly shot and killed by the anti-riot police squad in Enugu who tried stopping protesters at Ogbete main market in Enugu on Wednesday, July 26
Enugu residents were protesting against the closure of their shops by the state government for their compliance with last week’s Monday’s sit-at-home order that was issued by the Finland-based Biafra separatist agitator Simon Ekpa.
An eyewitness said aggrieved Ogbete traders were protesting peacefully in the market over the sealing of their shops by the state government before police intercepted them and started shooting in the air.
