A Nigerian man identified as Oluwatobi Kufeji has commenced a 200-hour singing marathon to break the Guinness World Record (GWR).

On June 13, Kufeji announced his plan to undertake a “praise worship-a-thon” in order to establish a new world record for the longest singing marathon.

He said his application had been accepted by GWR and requested financial support from people.

Kufeji said he aims to surpass the previous record set by Sunil Waghmare, an Indian singer, who sang for 105 hours in 2012.

The marathon began in Lagos on July 5 and is scheduled to conclude on July 13.

As of the time of this report, the singer has already exceeded 48 hours in his attempt.

In addition to Kufeji, numerous Nigerians have been attempting to break Guinness World Records.

Hilda Baci recently set a new record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

In May, Baci successfully completed a 100-hour cooking marathon.

Shortly after, Damilola Adeparusi, another chef, embarked on a five-day cooking marathon.

Adeyeye Adeola also attempted to break Baci’s record with a 150-hour cooking marathon.

Similarly, Temitope Adebayo, a chef based in Ibadan, announced his intention to cook for over 120 hours.

Also, Hassan Joshua Bature, a computer science lecturer at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), revealed plans to undertake a 150-hour teaching marathon.

Joyce Ijeoma, a Nigerian masseur who was attempting to break the world record for the longest massage on different individuals, recently collapsed.
