Fear Grips Residents Of Ondo Community Over Activities of Suspected Kidnappers
Residents of Irele quarters of Ondo state now live in palpable fear, following the incursion into the community, by people suspected to be kidnappers.
The presence of the gang in the community findings revealed, may not be unconnected with their intention to fish out a man they accused of planning to expose their activities to security operatives.
It was gathered that the kidnappers have in the last few weeks been after one Atijosan Orimisan, who they alleged to have been romancing the Police, in an attempt to implicate them.
Orimisan was, last month allegedly kidnapped along the Ijebu ode -Ore road, while returning to Lagos from Akure where he had gone to visit his parents and was later left off their hook, after payment of ransom by his family.
The head of the community, who craved anonymity for security reasons, told newsmen in Akure that the entire Irele community had been under the siege of gunmen, who constantly come to the community.
“We discovered that these miscreants have been trailing one of our sons, Orimisan because of the fear that he might give their identities to security operatives” the man said.
He explained that about twice, their community was thrown into pandemonium when the news of the suspected kidnappers reached them.
“They visited the residence of Orimisan’s parents, destroying some valuables there, as they accused their son of conspiring with security agents, to arrest them”, the man said, with anxiety, enveloping his entire body.
It would be recalled that Akure, Ondo state had in the last few years, been under a series of attacks, by social miscreants, particularly kidnappers who have either killed or injured innocent people in the community.
