The Chairman and Commander General of Vigilante Group of Nigeria VGN Usman Bakori has reiterated the importance of traditional institutions, saying that “The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Dr. Mohood Ishola Balogun remains a respected King in the history of Nigeria. Ibadan is a historical town.

The current Olubadan is a man of experience, a former Senator, a Doctor and today a traditional ruler”

Bakori said this during his visit to the Olubadan of Ibadan, his imperial majesty, Oba Mahood Ishola Balogun recently in his palace at Ibadan the capital of Oyo state.

Bakori who is also a retired Navy captain further said that “We drive a lot of inspiration meeting traditional rulers especially those who are relevant in the society. You can’t talk about traditional institution in Nigeria without talking about Olubadan, while Ibadan is the biggest City in the country”
I came purposely because I have read a lot about Ibadan, there is no part of the country that has nothing to do with Ibadan in the olden days. Coming here, I have gotten a lot of inspiration that will assist me in leading my men well”

“Remember before the coming of the Europeans, our traditional rulers were the commanders that were fully in charge of security when you talk about local security networking. There is no way you can achieve something without going closer to our traditional rulers”

Bakori shed light on the bill before the president, he said “Mr. President has interest in this security even before he become the civilian president. He has very much interest in local security networking and that is why when our bill was taken to him the first time, he made some observations to our advantage, he pointed out 32 lapses and it has been corrected by the national assembly. The only problem now is the funding and am assuring Mr President that we don’t have to be taken like civil defense. If government take us over, we have to be realistic with our people, they can not pay salary for over one million people. We can fund ourselves if we get assistance from government, all we need is to be in the constitution of Nigeria so that we can operate well. I can assure you, we are going to co-opt all these young men and women looking for jobs. Lack of employment is one of the major source of insecurity in Nigeria”

Among the entourage of the Commander General are DCG Idris Yinus, the deputy commander general in charge of Admin; DCG Jibril Aliyu, the deputy commander general in charge of finance; ACG Adedoyin Olanrewaju Nureni, the assistant commander general in charge of Admin; ACG Omojuni Matthew the National Provost Marshall and ACG Seyi Araromi, ACG Intelligence.
