Harry to attend King Charles’ coronation without Meghan

The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camila will be held on May 6 at Westminster Abbey in London.

In a statement on Wednesday, Buckingham Palace said Harry will attend his father’s coronation while Megan will remain in the United States with their two children.

The prince will join more than 2,000 guests at the event.

“Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th,” the statement reads.

“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

The coronation also coincides with Prince Archie’s birthday.

According to a tweet by Omid Scobie, who claims to be a close friend of the royals, Meghan chose to stay back in the US to celebrate Archie’s birthday.

The development comes amid an ongoing rift between Harry and the royal family — following the couple’s decision to step back from their roles as senior members of the royal family and relocate to the United States.

Although Harry has made a few public appearances since then, including attending the funerals of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, this will be his first major royal event since the family fallout.

During an interview with ITV in January, Harry hinted at the possibility of attending the coronation ceremony.

“The ball is in their court. There’s a lot to be discussed, and I really hope that they are willing to sit down and talk about it,” he said.
