Wife seeks divorce over husband’s alleged irresponsibility, domestic violence

A housewife, Amudalat Omotosho, on Thursday, approached an Area Court in Ilorin, seeking to divorce her husband, Busari Murtala over his alleged irresponsible acts and frequent beatings.

Omotosho told the court that her husband had refused to take responsibility for the feeding and upkeep of the family and that he always beat her anytime they have a misunderstanding.

She prayed the court to dissolve the marriage, with a request for the custody of their four-year-old son.

The plaintiff also asked the court to mandate her husband to pay N15,000 monthly for their child’s feeding and upkeep and also take care of his hospital bills in case of any illnesses.

The Presiding Judge, Abdulqadir Ibrahim, said the plaintiff should produce two witnesses to justify her claims and ordered that the husband be properly served.

Ibrahim adjourned till May 9 for the continuation of hearing
