The family of Nigeria’s late former Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Donaldson Oladipo Oyeyinka Diya, has announced plans for his burial.

Salient Times recall that Diya, number two to late General Sani Abacha, died in the early hours of March 26, 2023.

In a statement on behalf of the family, Prince Oyesinminlola Diya said after consultations and meeting, the burial rites have been scheduled to begin on July 26, 2023 with a Night of Tribute.

This will be followed by a Service of Songs on July 27, 2023 and Christian Wake Keep on July 28, 2023.

The final burial rites on July 29, 2023 will consist of Church Services, lnterment, Reception/Entertainment and final laying to rest, with a Thanksgiving Service to follow on July 30, 2023.

The statement, released on Wednesday, said further details will be made available in due course, including specific venues of the burial programmes.

It added: “Please remember us in your prayers especially our mother his dear wife, Otunba (Mrs.) Josephine Onoimuoko Diya (JP).”
