Baba Bintin, the radio presenter with Fresh FM in Ibadan, Oyo state, has reportedly died on his way to the radio station.

According to Punch, Isaac Brown, a presenter with the radio station, announced Bintin’s death on air on Saturday.

It is understood that the deceased was trekking from Amuloko to the station located at Challenge in Ibadan when he slumped.

He was also said to have decided to trek after a futile search for a point of sale (POS) agent to withdraw cash.

“I’m finding it very difficult to believe this story that is breaking here,” Brown was quoted as saying.

“He (Baba Bintin) left his home like we all did this morning to come into this station to do our daily job and contribute our quota to national development; the job like we love to do, and I’m being told that the man just slumped this morning and he died while getting ready to come here.”

Baba Bintin was one of the anchors of ‘Oyin Ado’, a Saturday programme on the radio station.

He was popular for his mastery of the Ijesha dialect and was fondly called “Boda Olu” and “Uncle” by some of his colleagues.

Fresh FM is yet to release a statement on his death — as of the time of this report.

The lingering naira scarcity has continued to elicit concerns across the country.

Baba Bintin’s death comes weeks after an employee of the Lagos State University (LASU) also died while waiting in a queue to withdraw money at a bank.
