The All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) has unveiled Pearl Thusi, the South African actress, among the hosts for its 2023 edition.

The 8th iteration of the music award, themed ‘Teranga Edition’, is billed to hold in Senegal from January 12 to 15.

Thusi is to join the Senegalese-French comedian Ahmed Sylla and the Cameroonian actress Sophy Aiida as host.

They are to preside over the main ceremony on the 15th at the 15,000-capacity Dakar Arena in Dakar, Senegal.

Sylla is a leading comedian in France and Senegal, with over a decade of experience performing on global stages.

In 2012, he achieved stardom in France with his eccentric solo pantomime and stand-up comedy performances.

He has experience in film, having played in serials such as ‘Alice Nevers’ and blockbusters like ‘Goal of the Dead’.

Joining Sylla on the big stage is Aiida who is a television personality, actress, and presenter for over a decade.

Her work behind the microphones has taken her to great stages including the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa.

Aiida, who also hosted the 2017 AFRIMA, has distinguished herself in Africa’s broadcasting and film industry.

Her exploits in hosting a talk show dubbed ‘Life Talk’, on the Canal+ channel, as well as the ‘Cameroon Top Model’ reality show on Canal 2, has demonstrated her prowess as a golden voice chaperoning black entertainment shows.

Climaxing the trio is the South African screen goddess Pearl Thusi of Netflix’s ‘Queen Sono’, who brings to bare her experience hosting several MTV shows including ‘Lip Sync Battle Africa’ and ‘Behind The Story’, among others.

The ceremony is to start on the 12th with a country tour, school visit, gift presentation, and a welcome soiree.

The event continues on the 13th with the Africa Music Business Summit (AMBS) at the Grand Theatre, in Dakar.

AMBS features workshops and panel discussions on issues and opportunities within the African music industry.

The 8th AFRIMA will continue with high momentum at the AFRIMA Music Village at the Grand Theatre, which will be a free-to-enter concert featuring live performances from the biggest music stars across the continent.

On the 14th, the events will begin with rehearsals, media engagements, and a visit to the president of Senegal.

Finally, the 8th AFRIMA will wrap up on January 15 at the 15-000 capacity Dakar Arena, in Dakar, with the live awards ceremony broadcast by 104 TV stations to over 84 countries around the world.
