Music artiste Asake has tendered a public apology to those who were injured in a stampede during his performance at a concert in London on Thursday night.

Lambeth Police confirmed that many people were seriously injured and some have been hospitalised after a large crowd tried to get into Brixton O2 Academy without tickets to watch Asake perform.

Eight people were taken to hospital, with four still in a critical condition due to injuries believed to have been caused by crushing. Others injured were treated at the scene.

In a statement via Instagram on Friday, Asake whose real name is Ahmed Ololade apologised to those who were injured as a result of the chaos and promised to reach out to them.

The 27-year-old who also apologised for the abrupt end of the concert, noted that he does not have the full information about what led to the disruption at event.

He wrote: “My heart is with those who were injured last night and caused any form of discomfort. | pray you get well soonest. I am also in the process of reaching out to individuals. Still do not have the full brief from the venue management themselves as to what led to the disruption at the entrance of The Brixton Academy, but we are thankful that all was peaceful at the end.

“For my people who enjoyed the beginning of my performance, I am sorry that it was cut short. Thank you for your unbelievable love London. I love you too much! I’m looking forward to seeing you again in a bit!
