Tunde Kelani bags honorary doctorate degree from Lead City varsity
Tunde Kelani, the ace filmmaker, has received an honorary doctorate degree of letters from Lead City University in Ibadan.
Doctor of Letter is often conferred on people who have contributed to humanities and/or society.
The 74-year-old filmmaker shared a photo of himself adorned in a graduation gown via his Instagram page on Tuesday.
In the post, Kelani described the institution as “one of the leading varsity in Nigeria” while appreciating it for the honour.
He also expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to his journey over the past few decades.
“It is now on record that on the 12th day of the 12th month of the year 2022, I was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) by Lead City University, Ibadan, one of the leading universities in Nigeria,” he wrote.
“I hereby thank my family and friends. associates, supporters, collaborators, benefactors and professional colleagues for being part of my journey.
“Your love, support and encouragement over the past few decades have finally paid off. I am grateful. God bless you all. Dr. TK.”
Kelani is a well-known filmmaker who loves adapting literary material into movies.
Some of his works include ‘Ko s’egbe’, ‘O le ku’, ‘Thunder Bolt’, ‘The Narrow Path’, ‘White Handkerchief’, ‘Maami’, ‘Ayinla’ and ‘Dazzling Mirage’.
