The Senate Leader and Chairman of the Ekiti APC 2026 Governorship Election Campaign Council, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has unveiled plans to mobilise 10 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the South-West ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 57-member Ekiti Governorship Campaign Council in Ado-Ekiti, Bamidele said the June 20 election would also serve as a referendum on the leadership of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

He praised Oyebanji’s strategic projects and programmes, describing his achievements as unprecedented in Ekiti’s history, and predicted a “walkover” victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Governor Oyebanji has steered the state with vision, courage and unwavering commitment to the welfare of over 3.8 million residents,” Bamidele said.

Highlighting the need for voter mobilisation, he urged party members and residents to participate fully in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and ensure broad participation in both the governorship election and the 2027 general elections

“Ekiti currently has 987,647 registered voters. By August 2026, we aim to increase enrolment by 50 per cent. Mobilising voters is crucial for Oyebanji’s re-election and securing South-West support for Tinubu,” he said.

Bamidele also pledged to lead the campaign with dedication and discipline, targeting a 90 per cent landslide victory for the APC in Ekiti. He called for unity within the party, stressing that teamwork and harmony are essential for success.

Governor Oyebanji thanked Bamidele for his support and said his campaign would be issue-driven, focusing on policies, programmes and development plans rather than personal attacks.

He also urged all candidates to adhere strictly to the Electoral Act 2022 to ensure a peaceful, credible and transparent election process
