From Kenechukwu Obiajuru, Yenagoa

Professor Otuturu made the remark when he led a delegation of the Law Faculty to pay a condolence visit on the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Beatrice Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, at his residential lodge in Government House, Yenagoa, on Friday.

Commenting on the notable contributions Senator Ewhrudjakpo made towards the development of the Law Faculty, the Niger Delta University and the entire state, he said the departed Deputy Governor worked side by side with Governor Douye Diri and other stakeholders to ensure the full accreditation of courses in the Faculty

Professor Otuturu, added that apart from making out time to lecture law students of the NDU, Senator Ewhrudjakpo still had so many good plans for the faculty, and the university in general.

He prayed for the eternal repose of the soul of the Deputy Governor and God’s comfort for his wife and family.

Also speaking, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Bayelsa State, Mr Kemeasuode Wodu, SAN, lamented that the death of Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo was a huge loss to the legal profession and the entire state.

Mr Wodu, described the departed deputy governor as an efficient, committed and dedicated public servant, who was quite indispensable to the present Prosperity Administration in the state, adding that his good legacy would continue to live on.

In her response, Mrs. Beatrice Ewhrudjakpo expressed gratitude to the Dean and other members of the Law Faculty for their show of concern and words of encouragement to her, the children and the entire Ewhrudjakpo family.

Describing her late husband as “a man of the people” who did his best in the service of God and humanity, Mrs. Ewhrudjakpo said she had hoped he would have enough time for his immediate family when he had retired from public service.
