The Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, who disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Sunday in Benin-City said the incident happened in Uhe community in Igueben Local Government Area of the state.

Ikoedem said acting on credible information, operatives led by the Igueben Divisional Police Officer on December 6, 2025 stormed the scene to confirm the incident.

She alleged that preliminary findings revealed that the suspect assaulted the deceased with a stick on Friday, December 5, 2025, at about 7:00 pm, leading to the boy’s death.

She also alleged that the suspect further dug a grave within the compound and buried the corpse.

The Command’s image maker, said the suspect’s 82-year-old mother, who is also the deceased’s grandmother, who resides in the same house provided useful information to the police.

She added that following due administrative procedures, the grave was exhumed, photographs taken, and the stick allegedly used in committing the offence was recovered as an exhibit.

Ikoedem said the suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody, while investigation is ongoing.

The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command, Monday Agbonika, directed that the case be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation and onward prosecution.

She said the Commissioner, who warned against all forms of violence, however, urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station.
